Evan Hayes, 18, of Mays Landing, was arrested on Friday, Apr. 5, the Galloway Township Police Department said in a news release. He was given several charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Two Pleasantville teens, ages 17 and 16, were injured in a shooting near the Hoon King Chinese Restaurant at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 31. The restaurant is in The Shoppes at Galloway on East Collins Road.
The teens were brought to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with non-life-threatening injuries. Atlantic City police told Galloway police about the boys being shot in Galloway.
Galloway police responded to the hospital and learned that a gun was pulled during the fight between two groups when several shots were fired. After reviewing forensic evidence and executing two search warrants in Galloway on Thursday, Apr. 4, Hayes was taken into custody.
Hayes was held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility to await a court appearance. Police said more charges were pending for other suspects in the shooting.
